Ruby Fat Quarters Are In!

For those of you waiting to make the Swoon Quilt by Camille Roskelly of Thimble Blossoms - the fat quarters are in!

Also in stock is the Swoon Pattern.  Camille lent us a picture of her Swoon Quilt from Spring Market. (I know...... you want the polka dot chair too - right?)  We have the quilt kits available for sale as well.  Here is the link:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/76205476/swoon-quilt-kit-designed-by-camille   We won't have the fabric for the binding and backing until October, but that is about perfect timing to finish piecing your quilt top and getting it quilted.   The finished blocks are 24".  Each square takes 2 fat quarters and some background fabric. 4 blocks would make a perfect table topper.
Have you been to Camille's Blog lately?  In the past week she has posted about a hundred different versions of her Swoon Quilt patterns.  All made by quilters like us.  You need to see all of these gorgeous quilt blocks.  Here is the link:  http://www.camilleroskelley.typepad.com/  I love the red and gray quilt.  And the baby quilt with just 1 block in the center of the quilt.  Happy Swooning!

OUR TUMBLER DIE IS IN!!!!!

This quilt is for Baby Easton.  I chose the Tumble Block because I loved the Thimble Blossoms pattern double dip by Camille Roskelly.  I wanted a modern and masculine quilt pattern.  This is perfect.  The fabrics I used are All Star 2 by Riley Blake. And of course, by the time I finish my quilt we are almost sold out of the blue All Star 2.  We do have most of our orange All Star fabrics still in stock - they would be very bright and fun.  Our Boys Meadow Friends bundle would also be perfect for this pattern.
This tumbler pattern calls for 1/2 of a layer cake.  You can find it in our store.  See the shop section Patterns.  With the other 1/2 of the layer cake you can make the other quilt - hence the name double dip.  Great idea Camille!
There have been tutorials written on how to cut the tumbler with a Charm Square.  As you can see, all you have to do is angle your ruler from the corner of the bottom of the square to the top cutting  off 1 inch at the top.  Your tumble will measure 3" at the top and 5" at the bottom.  As you can see there is a little waste.

For even less waste, cut a 5 inch strip, line up your fabric with the inch markings at the base of your cutting mat.  Cut the first angle the same as for the charm pack - begin at the bottom corner and cutting to the top of the strip at the 2 inch mark.  The second cut will be from the bottom of the strip at the 5" mark to the top of the strip at the 4" mark.
As you can see, the second tumbler is upside down.  Make sure as you cut along the strip that you alternate 5" and 3".   This fabric is double for quicker cutting and because I wanted to match up the tumblers like in the Double Dip Pattern I was using.  I did not have a layer cake and I needed at least two of the same fabric.

Or WE HAVE A NEW DIE CUT FOR OUR CUTTING MACHINE AND WE CAN DO THE WORK FOR YOU!!!  JUST TELL US WHICH OF THE FABRIC GROUPS YOU WOULD LIKE AND HOW MANY TUMBLER PIECES YOU NEED.  WE WILL CUT THEM FOR YOU.  This way your pattern will sew up even quicker!   WE DO NEED TO CUT  A MINIMUM OF 4 OF EACH FABRIC.

This quilt really was fun and easy to sew together.  The 5" die is a perfect size.  Not to small and not to large.  Because the quilt is a little wider than the width of the fabric, I chose to put some random tumblers down the center.  That way I didn't have to purchase another length of fabric for the backing.
Leisha Farnsworth quilted this for me.  She does a wonderful job.  I don't know if you can see but there are stars in the border and stippling in the center.  I loved how this turned out.  And now it's wraped with a bow....Welcome Baby Easton!

SHARING DAY...YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS THESE RAGGEDY GIRLS!

I am so excited to share this artist with you today! Her name is Nat and she is from Belgium.   Nat purchased our Taza Fat Quarter Bundle along with some Farm Fresh brown polka dot fabric to dress up some of her newest creative additions she calls "Raggedy Girls".

Don't you just love them?  They make me smile.  Look at the detail on their faces.  Gotta love those pink stripped stockings.  What fun.  My favorite?  hmmmmm  how do you choose?  I would have to purchase 3 so they could be sisters.  What a fun gift they would make.  I don't know if she will part with one, but if you would like to contact Nat, you can do so on her Etsy site:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/polymerclaybox?ref=pr_shop     Browse through her beautiful beads - she even has a bead tutorial on Natsclay.com.  OK I have to share some of her handmade buttons - they are exquisite!

THANK YOU SO MUCH NAT FOR SHARING!

Finally working on my Kiss Me Quilt..........I love these colors!

I am finally getting time to work on my Kiss Me Quilt.  Yea!  I only have 2 blocks finished, but I figure if I blog about working on it then I will finish it in the next few weeks.  I am so excited about this quilt.  Only 14 more blocks to go.  I have always wanted to make a red and white quilt.  And the slate in this quilt is a bonus because it goes in my home perfectly.  These colors really are yummy.  I was inspired to get going because we received 14 new patterns in stock and a couple of them were made with the Strawberry Fields Fabric.

One of these is Sweet Jane's Better Together Pattern made with a Strawberry Fields  Layer Cake.  Another is Stems by Fig Tree Quilts.  See below....

We also have 7 new Charm Pack Friendly patterns in stock.  Let me show you a few of my favorites.....

Here is a link:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/SistersandQuilters?section_id=7551967  Make sure you browse the Charm Pack Section!  We have several of our own collections cut into charm packs for you.

Vacation at the Lake

A vacation day at the lake and I finally finished this cute little baby quilt made from the Summer Song collection. I backed it with our soft 21-wale Lightweight Corduroy. Our die machine cut all these triangles making it a quick and easy quilt. Now it can be loved by my new granddaughter Harper Sandra Bradley. We want to make precut kits using this pattern available to our customers. What if you were able to pick your own fabric collection from our store to be cut? Watch for kits on our website.....

What can you do with Black & white?

Thank you Leisha (our resident machine quilter) for sharing your Zig Zag Quilt!  We love the pop of the fushia  Paradise Fabric  from Art Gallery Fabrics.  Notice this is another half square triangle pattern.  Lots of blocks to sew together ...but only one block pattern.

Leisha put a black dimple Minky on the back.  This makes the quilt so soft and cuddly.  This would make a great family room quilt for those cold winters!

Thanks again Leisha!
Check back tomorrow!  We have another fun quilt idea to share.
