OUR TUMBLER DIE IS IN!!!!!

 This quilt is for Baby Easton.  I chose the Tumble Block because I loved the Thimble Blossoms pattern double dip by Camille Roskelly.  I wanted a modern and masculine quilt pattern.  This is perfect.  The fabrics I used are All Star 2 by Riley Blake. And of course, by the time I finish my quilt we are almost sold out of the blue All Star 2.  We do have most of our orange All Star fabrics still in stock - they would be very bright and fun.  Our Boys Meadow Friends bundle would also be perfect for this pattern.

 This tumbler pattern calls for 1/2 of a layer cake.  You can find it in our store.  See the shop section Patterns.  With the other 1/2 of the layer cake you can make the other quilt - hence the name double dip.  Great idea Camille!

 There have been tutorials written on how to cut the tumbler with a Charm Square.  As you can see, all you have to do is angle your ruler from the corner of the bottom of the square to the top cutting  off 1 inch at the top.  Your tumble will measure 3" at the top and 5" at the bottom.  As you can see there is a little waste.

For even less waste, cut a 5 inch strip, line up your fabric with the inch markings at the base of your cutting mat.  Cut the first angle the same as for the charm pack - begin at the bottom corner and cutting to the top of the strip at the 2 inch mark.  The second cut will be from the bottom of the strip at the 5" mark to the top of the strip at the 4" mark.

 As you can see, the second tumbler is upside down.  Make sure as you cut along the strip that you alternate 5" and 3".   This fabric is double for quicker cutting and because I wanted to match up the tumblers like in the Double Dip Pattern I was using.  I did not have a layer cake and I needed at least two of the same fabric.

 Or WE HAVE A NEW DIE CUT FOR OUR CUTTING MACHINE AND WE CAN DO THE WORK FOR YOU!!!  JUST TELL US WHICH OF THE FABRIC GROUPS YOU WOULD LIKE AND HOW MANY TUMBLER PIECES YOU NEED.  WE WILL CUT THEM FOR YOU.  This way your pattern will sew up even quicker!   WE DO NEED TO CUT  A MINIMUM OF 4 OF EACH FABRIC.

This quilt really was fun and easy to sew together.  The 5" die is a perfect size.  Not to small and not to large.  Because the quilt is a little wider than the width of the fabric, I chose to put some random tumblers down the center.  That way I didn't have to purchase another length of fabric for the backing.

Leisha Farnsworth quilted this for me.  She does a wonderful job.  I don't know if you can see but there are stars in the border and stippling in the center.  I loved how this turned out.  And now it's wraped with a bow....Welcome Baby Easton!
